Rainbow Mountain Vinicunca Trek

Rainbow Mountain Vinicunca Trek, The Vinicunca mountain at 5,200 meters above sea level is part of the Vilcanota mountain range.

Of singular beauty and peculiar appearance, the Vinicunca or Winicunca mountain at 5,200 meters above sea level is part of the Vilcanota mountain range, presenting cloudy or sunny weather during the day and freezing weather at night.

The communities surrounding the tourist attraction call it the “Red Mountain” for its fuchsia, turquoise, lavender and gold tone, making it a land of rainbows that enchants travelers. You can even see snow-capped mountains like Apu Ausangate in the distance.

La Montaña gained popularity due to social networks that spread its existence, making it one of the best tourist destinations in the world.

We will visit this place on a full day excursion.

Day 1 :

CUSCO – CUSIPATA – VINICUNCA

Early in the morning, our private transportation will pick you up at your hotel between 4:30 and 5:00 am to head south to Cusco.

The first place we will visit is Cusipata, a town with captivating landscapes and charismatic people, where you will enjoy a nutritious buffet breakfast prepared with Andean ingredients (the average time from Cusco to this place is 2.5 hours)

On the route you can see impressive landscapes such as glaciers and small lakes that surround the road, you can also find local residents dressed in traditional costumes while they take care of their llamas, alpacas and sheep.

If you are lucky, near the road you will be able to see some Andean animals such as condors, wild cats, foxes, skunks, huallatas, partridges, deer or vizcachas. Before reaching Vinicunca (10 minutes away) there is a detour that leads to the Red Valley viewpoint, a unique destination covered by a reddish mantle where travelers often take photographs or videos.

To enter the Red Valley an additional payment is required (S/ 10 soles) (it is not included in our rate, this is optional)

The Apu Ausangate and Sarinini will welcome us to the popular attraction. The walking time from Fullawasi to Vinicunca Mountain is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes (intermediate difficulty) during the tour our guide will be attentive to you.

To appreciate the mountain we will have to climb for 10 minutes to the so-called Vinicunca Pass where you can see 100% of the mountain. Our guide will explain the process that the mountain took to acquire its peculiar tones and the change that its geography underwent (You will have time to explore the place on your own)

We will return to Fullawasi where our tourist transportation will be waiting for us and will take us to the Cusipata Community to enjoy a well-deserved buffet lunch based on Andean ingredients.

The tour will end by returning to the city of Cusco, our transportation will leave our travelers at their hotels or near the main square.
