Qeswachaca Tour
Qeswachaca Tour: 1-Day Adventure to the Last Incan Bridge
Qeswachaka tour measures 33 meters long by 1.20 meters wide, its structure is “ichu” and it is built with an ancient braiding technique.
Formerly it was part of the great “Qapac ñan” road system, roads used by the Incas and the “chaskis” (messengers) of the Inca empire.
Qeswachaka is the only large bridge that survived modernity and is currently known as “The Last Inca Bridge”, its construction technique is inherited from the inhabitants of the surrounding districts and they are the ones who carry out the activities every year from June 7 to 10 remodeling.
The experience of crossing the bridge generates a euphoria similar to other adventure activities such as the Zip Line.
Embarking on the Qeswachaca tour is like stepping back in time. Located in the heart of the Andes, this journey takes you to the last remaining Incan bridge, a marvel woven entirely from local grasses. As you approach the site, you’re greeted by panoramic views of the Apurímac River, with towering mountains on all sides.
Crossing the bridge is an exhilarating experience—each step resonates with centuries of tradition and craftsmanship, making you feel part of a living history. The locals have maintained the ancient technique of hand-weaving the bridge, a tradition passed down through generations. You can witness this unique cultural heritage in action, as well as learn about the spiritual significance the bridge holds for the local communities.
Beyond the bridge, the landscape invites exploration. Quiet Andean villages dot the route, offering glimpses into traditional lifestyles and warm hospitality. The serenity of the environment, combined with the rich cultural history, makes this full-day adventure an unforgettable experience, deeply connected to Peru’s vibrant past.
